Being Beautiful. God's way.

Hi there readers! :) It's 1:46 PM, Manila, Philippines time. And it is raining. I've been contemplating on what to blog for I haven't updated for two days now. I should be visiting the book fair today but due to harsh weather, I can't. So, here I am. Pouring my heart out kasabay ng down pour ng ulan. Haha.

I am currently watching a very excellent make-up guru's video on YouTube and as always, I am amazed by how they do make-up. With all those lipsticks and eyeliners and foundations, surely one's look will be transformed. It is every girl's dream and desire to look beautiful and stay beautiful and of course be admired. Aren't we? But with all those products and with the price tags that associate them, sometimes, it's hard to keep up with the world's standard of beauty. So, we end up with the same old routine that we have. Not all girls know how to apply make-up; not everyone has that time to keep up with beauty routines. I am not saying make-ups and such are wrong. I believe they are a great help to boost one's confidence. But as I always say, beauty, true beauty should come and must be God's way. :) Which, I believe is the most important thing to keep for this lasts forever.
  

This is my speech presentation back in college. Each of us is tasked to write our own speech, on just about anything, and recite it to class. Having a nice visual aid sure would add to one's grade. This costs us our midterm grade so one should really do well. As I was making mine, I got up to this idea of sharing to my classmates the idea of being beautiful in God's way. (So says the title.)  My whole speech recital is a success for I have not just aced my midterms, I also touched the hearts of my classmates. :) Again, I am not against beauty products for I also use them. But, we what we should keep in mind is, outward beauty should not go beyond what our inner beauty could have. And as the old saying goes, no amount of make-up can cover up one's true attitudes and character. But a heart after God's own heart lasts forever. :)
"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes.  Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight." (1 Peter 3:3-4)

So with B.O.B Ft. Bruno Mars's Nothing on You playing on the background, I might as well remind everyone in here who we truly are. Princes and Princesses. :) How? Because God, our Father, is the King of kings. And so we, His Children, are called as Princes and Princesses. :) Some people may take me literally and doubt for not all of us wear elegant dresses or live in magnificent castles. But true riches are what we have in heaven. :) And so long as we stay on God's side, time will come that we shall be celebrating in His Kingdom. :)


Rebecca,  Isaac's wife, is a pretty good example of a Bible heroine who embodies beauty after God's way. Genesis 24:12-15 is not enough and I recommend that we look up the whole of Genesis 24. With that, let's rundown her qualities. First, she's a virgin. (verse 16). With societies' pressures and wrong influences, being a virgin is very old school and I assume one would be bullied if they happen to be one. Why did the Bible emphasized Rebecca's purity? Being a virgin is not only a physical condition, it dugs deep to one's inner being. Being a virgin and deciding to stay pure until marriage comes in is a mature and responsible decision every girl should make. It emanates that she is mature enough not to let just any guy possess her. And being mature and responsible is indeed beautiful. :) Next, she kept herself clean. Of course, grooming matters. And not only physical grooming, but purity of heart and thoughts. "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things." (Philippians 4:8) She is very beautiful, inside and out. She is hardworking, not lazy. She was hospitable; she was ready to share and serve. Nothing is more attractive than being a woman who is caring and is hospitable. 

And these are more of the qualities of what we should possess in terms of having the beauty that God wants. These qualities pertain to not just Rebecca but several female characters of the Bible. You can check out the Bible verses. These are Esther (my favorite), Miriam, Ruth, Hannah, and Mary Magdalene.

I wanna end this post with this famous Proverbs 30:31 bible verse. Above any mascara or foundation that we apply, it is foremost important that we saturate our lives with God's Words and we live by Him each and everyday. Nobody did become ugly upon worshiping the Lord. As our lives change, we naturally radiate God's glory and that what makes us beautiful. And no make-up could overcome that. For it comes from a heart that is truly captivated by God. And a heart that truly loves God embodies joy that none if this world could provide. :) God bless!
